THE PROCESS

My Knives are designed and profiled from high grade precision ground bar stock. Once the basic profile of the knife is achieved, the bevel of the knife is ground utilizing a TW-90 2 x 72 vertical/horizontal belt grinder.

Knife bevels can be done in either hollow grind or flat grind depending on customer preference. The plunge lines can either be left crisp or faded depending on customer preference (See photos page for plunge line variations).

Tapered tangs are also completed at this stage if desired and recommended on full tang knifes to reduce weight and bring balance to the knife. Holes are drilled into the handle/bolster area with a precision mill/drill and the blade is then heat treated and tempered according to the steel manufactures recommendations and guidelines.

The blade surface is then prepared to the customers’ requirements, by either polishing to a mirror finish or sanding to a matted/satin finish. Handle materials and bolsters are glued/peened on to secure them mechanically as well as chemically. Colored liners can be used to accentuate the lines between the handle/blade if desired. Handles are then shaped and hand sanded to fit perfectly in the palm. Last but not least, a razor edge is placed on the knife at 25 degrees and it is ready for use!

While I would like to think of my knives as a functional piece of art, they are tools crafted and designed to be used and last a life time.
